Health systems are experiencing a progressive imbalance between available resources and increasing needs. The world population is growing, and the incidence of chronic diseases is rising; however, the funds allocated to health care are limited. The need to provide optimized, individualized, and person-centered care is growing. Addressing these competing needs and complex problems requires novel and creative approaches for the development of health care solutions. Design approaches to health care promise to aid the development of
innovative, effective, and person-centered solutions to health challenges, supporting the realization of a future for health care that is preventative, personalized, and participatory in nature.
