Through HCDExchange Community calls, I got to learn about the HCDX career portal, this is where I learnt about the Billion Girls Collab (BGC) fellowship by Ideo.org , I applied and got into the fellowship program. This program kickstarted my career in the HCD & ASRHR sector.

My journey in adolescent and youth development has been significantly shaped by the support and knowledge shared within peer communities. I've evolved from a novice to a professional proficient in program design and implementation , thanks to the invaluable mentorship I have received.

An ideal mentor does not impose their journey and experiences but shares and molds them, allowing mentees to draw from these insights to carve out their own path. They give mentees the freedom to choose, helping them develop critical thinking skills and learn from their mistakes.

It’s our collective responsibility to ensure that young people get opportunities to work on actual initiatives across the implementation process to prepare them for leading interventions in the future

I started to see the different ways even fields outside of public health and social impact can contribute to improving people’s living experiences. I would idolize working in social impact a lot but through my fieldwork, I also realized we all have our limitations, and that there isn’t just one best way to make the world a better place. So I think moving forward, no matter what work I do, I think it will come from a place of – can I somehow make the world a better place through this ?

I believe that human-centered design (HCD) is the best approach to creating solutions that are effective and sustainable. When we design with the people we are designing for, we are more likely to create solutions that they will actually use and that will meet their needs.
