Physical activity is one of the most efficacious pathways to promote child health, well-being, and academic achievement, yet most children and adolescents in the United States are classified as inactive. Less than half (42%) of children ages 6-11 years participate in the recommended 60 minutes of daily physical activity, and this percentage declines as children transition into adolescence . Children living in low-resource communities report even lower rates of physical activity , and the recent COVID-19 pandemic exacerbated these disparities  by contributing to a 17-minute decline in youth physical activity . We have an urgent and unmet need to increase youth physical activity engagement to improve child and adolescent health.
