What is the role of intergenerational communication on Adolescent and youth sexual health? This study from Niger shares insights into the understated role of parents and peers in influencing adolescents’ choices. Although most AYSRH strategies tend to be designed to educate adolescents directly on SRH topics, adolescents cite peers and parents as their primary sources of sexual and reproductive health information. In this paper, Breakthrough RESEARCH shows how parents’ lack of knowledge and confidence to initiate conversations about SRH and adverse social norms create barriers to open communication between parents and their children.
