Muthoni Wachira - Project Director

Muthoni Wachira is the HCDExchange Project Director. She is an experienced Global Health professional and advocate for women’s rights and sexual and reproductive health in Africa and globally. She has over 15 years of experience working in large and small scale SRHR projects: a global SRHR service delivery project in response to Covid-19 pandemic, a multi-year project on women and girls’ increased access to comprehensive abortion care, a four-year humanitarian project focused on integrating SRHR implementation during crisis (SPRINT Initiative); a five-year research project investigating the benefits of integrating SRH and HIV in Kenya, Malawi and Swaziland (Intégra Initiative); three-year service delivery and economic empowerment project targeting young people between 10 and 19 years old living with or affected by HIV (Adolescents Count Today). Other previous roles were primarily focused on Research Monitoring and Evaluation of public health programs.

In her current role at the HCDExchange, she is keen on supporting the application of human-centered design in ASRH programs as an approach that has promise in improving adolescent health outcomes. She holds a Master of Business Administration specializing in strategic management from the University of Nairobi.
